Junior Hockey

General Information

Bray Hockey Club is a relatively young club in Leinster. We played our first league (Senior Leinster ladies) match in October 1993. Founded by parents/local school hockey coaches and fielded by local teenagers, we developed quickly as a local not-for profit club and our first venture with Junior hockey resulted in an All-Ireland win.

Some of that Junior Squad developed with our Club to reach Division 1 and in the meantime our Junior Hockey section has continued to go from strength to strength. We were honoured to be chosen as the Irish Mascots at the opening 2012 Olympic Qualifier Tournament and our U14 girls brought home the junior clubs first silverware as minor league champions in March 2013 and then again in 2016.

In March 2016 we were awarded Hockey Ireland's Clubmark accreditation which illustrates our ongoing commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable hockey experience to all.

In October 2017 we became a two pitch club with junior sessions in Loreto Bray and Templecarrig Greystones.

We now cater for a large group of boys and girls ranging from senior infants to 4th Year (and then you should consider playing with our seniors for 15+!).

Bray Hockey Club adhere to the Hockey Ireland's code of ethics for Young People and were one of the few clubs chosen to participate in the initial development and roll-out of their "Hooked for Life" Program. The Hockey Ireland Long term Player development plan - Hooked for Life is available from Hockey Ireland downloads.

We encourage and support our coaches, leads and volunteers through Hockey Ireland training (Stepping Stones, Foundation , Level 1). We process Garda Vetting and we have a Club Children's Officer and Club Designated Person to ensure the safe and fun involvement of members of all ages.
