Bray v YMCA (1-1)
On Saturday the Ladies 1s went head to head at home with YMCA on an unusually hot October Saturday. As both team were sitting on the same number of points in the league table it was sure to be an extremely intense game. Bray started strong in the first half with excellent work all over the pitch preventing YMCA from causing any threat up front. Bray were rewarded for their continuous efforts up front when Aishling Healey scored a cracker of a goal in the first half. Not wanting the forwards to have all the credit the defence stepped up their game with Sam Henson making several key tackles with one imperative save from a YMCA short corner to keep Bray 1-0 at half time.
After a stern half-time talk, the ladies 1s were eager to put more goals away, however, YMCA came back with extreme determination and put immense pressure on the Bray defence. Man of the match Laura McCarthy played a stormer in goals with her ninja goalie skills keeping YMCA at bay. However, Bray were unlucky to concede a short corner from which YMCA were able to capitalise making it 1-1. Although Bray worked hard to create opportunities up front it wasn’t to be and the match finished 1-1. Next weekend Bray play Pembroke where they hope to improve and build upon last weekend’s performance as they continue their quest in division 2.
As always thanks to Greg and Cheryl for their continuous support and coaching and Ross for umpiring.
