Bray 2nds v Guinness (1-2)
The ladies 2s set out to Guiness last Saturday were they new they would be in for a battle as usual.
We started off pretty slow between trying to find our balance on a pitch that resembled more of an ice rink than an AstroTurf and Kathy Lee O'Toole going fishing for Salmon on the right wing.
Guiness took advantage of our slow pace and won a short corner in the first few minutes. The corner was excellently taken and so we were 1-0 down.
Within the next 15 minutes Guinness were awarded another short corner and Niamh was on the phone to book us in for some ballet lessons! Once going 2-0 down things started to pick up for us. There was some great passing working its way from the back, through the midfield to the forwards. There were many chances and a lot of pressure on the Guinness defence. Vicky took a whack to the head by a stick while coming in for a tackle just on the Guinness 25. Vicky very heroically played on in the second half making a huge impact on the game as per.
We started out strong in the second half after a kick up the backside by coach Niamh. There were plenty of chances and we were extremely unlucky not to finish. We were lucky enough to win a couple of shorts which were all well executed but unfortunately couldn't convert any. Guinenss kept the pressure on and were extremely quick on the counter attack however Brays defence remained strong and kept a clean sheet in the second half.
we kept up our fight and with some play up the right then a ball into Emer in the centre, was sent into Saoirse on the left who calmly slipped the ball passed the keeper.
We were happy to come away with a goal and some lovely play in the second half. Looking forward to a road trip to Skerries this weekend if anyone wants to come support !!
