Minor Cup - Bray M2s vs Naas M2s. (3-2)
Bray Men's 2nds took the long journey down to a physical Naas side on a cold Tuesday night.
It started off great with Ross having to go turn the lights on because Caoimhin wanted to play in the dark and get another head injury probably from Bill. After getting rid of the women from the pitch who came to watch yours truly, the match got underway.
After a horrific start, Bray went down by a goal after 2 mins. Chris and Ross were fuming. Bray quickly came back with an excellent goal from Simon smashing it into the net. Bray couldn't score again in the 1st half despite the glorious Adam Brennan coming on.
Bray started the second half with a bang with Sammy Collier putting a sexy flick in the net from a short corner. Bray kept falling asleep though and Naas came back with a goal to tie it up. The match turned into fight club soon after, with Jack Parker's brilliant run being ended with a trip, Sammy getting a punch in the chest and Sean Fleming got gold in the Olympics for his landing after being swept off his feet by the keeper. Then came a spectacular sight that even the defence stopped to admire. Chrissy Doyle made a bazillion saves in a row which stopped Naas taking a late lead.
Adam Brennan's one good act came straight after when Chris's clearance came straight to him, the spinning ball was first timed and the spectacular hit went sailing over everyone's heads to the Naas corner clearing the danger. Cheeky Adam turned to his marker with a smile and went "did you like that one?".
Bray pressed hard at the end looking for a winner and the pressure paid off. Sam's brilliant cross was superbly finished off by Graham with his new wcp stick (shoutout to Sean Brennan). Bray closed out the game nearly scoring again at the end but the match finished 3-2 to Bray.
Great performances from all the lads, especially Caoimhin, Bill, Adam, Jay and Stuart. With two games this weekend let's hopefully keep this form going.
The M2's will travel to Enniscorthy in January for the next roudn of the Minor Cup. More details here.
