Match Report! L5's v Genesis 6ths Cup Match (11/11/17)

November 15, 2017

Bray L5s v Genesis L6 (1 - 1; Rebecca Wall; 0-1 loss for Bray on strokes)

On Saturday 11th of November, Bray L5s came out for the second weekend in a row against Genesis. After the loss against them the week before, Bray were determined this cup match was there’s for the taking.

Bray came at Genesis with an extreme force and determination which really showed the skills learned throughout the week in training. The whole first half saw Bray’s forwards attacking with determination to get the ball into the net. Gina Archbold and Sarah Finnegan held the back line, with Sweeper Hannah Darcy making it very hard for Genesis to get through the defence line. The first half ended with 0-0 and after a team talk from Caoimhe Guilfoyle, Bray got the motivation needed and pushed back twice as hard in the second half.

Unfortunately, Genesis found the back of the net and this made the scoreboard 1-0. As this was a cup match Bray were determined to even the score board. Some excellent saves from Christina Cuffe in nets, and a huge push from the Midfielders and forwards left Rebecca Wall tapping the ball past the genesis keeper and into the goal evening the score board to 1-1. The final whistle blew and the match went into extra time. Bray fought hard but unfortunately couldn’t find the back of the net a second time.

The match went to flicks putting pressure on the 5 who stepped up to take them. Christina Cuffe made some unbelievable saves and despite best efforts Genesis managed to score.  Despite the end result, Bray L5’s had an incredible performance and really proved the potential and bond of this team.
