Wednesday night was a Valentines Date for the Mens 1sts away to Portrane in Donabate. Previous fixtures have always been a hot and steamy affair, and this one was to be no different.unfortunately, Cupid was not on the Bray side and the lads came home with a heavy 1-6 defeat. Sam Fleming was on the mark for Bray on the night.
On Thursday the Ladies 1sts were in league action for a re-fixed match against Railway Union 2nd in TempleCarrig. A cold, high-paced and exciting affair, the Bray Ladies held Railway to 0-0 at half-time, however after 3 matches in just 5 days, the bodies became weary and Railway capitalised to win comfortably with a 3-0 scoreline.
The Ladies Vets were in action on Friday night and sadly recorded just their second defeat of the season losing out 1-3 to Corinthians, Cathy Brock on the mark for the Vets.
Saturday started positively with a 5-0 win for the Ladies 4ths away to UCD 7ths. Emily Wray popping away three goals with Alison Dawson scoring twice also. A depleted Ladies 1sts squad continued a strong cup run beating Three Rock 1-0 in the Irish Hockey Trophy. Shelley Richardson put away a nice short corner piece to secure the win. Bray will host Three Rock again this Saturday in the league. They now travel to Munster in early March for the semi-finals against COI or Mossley who play their fixture next weekend.
The Ladies 2nds continued the winning streak with a 2-1 win over Weston, Kathy O'Toole and Rhona Baker scoring. Whilst the Ladies 3rds lost just their second match of the season away to a strong Naas side with a tight 1-2 result. The 3s are just one win away from securing promotion to Division 8. The Ladies 5ths match against Pembroke was called off.
The Mens 1sts closed out the day with a 1-1 draw against Monkstown. Grattan Evans scoring.
On Sunday both the Ladies 4ths and 5ths were competing in the newly formed LHA Trophy. The 4ths lost 0-2 to Loreto , however the 5ths beat Division 8 side Mullingar, 2-1. Rebecca Wal and Rhona Baker scoring. The Mens 1sts were in action again and after a tight first half, lost 1-5 to Pembroke, with Sean Brennan scoring for Bray.
