Match Report! L2s v Pembroke (13.10.18)

October 15, 2018

On a miserable Saturday morning, Bray made the trip out the Pembroke for their third league game hoping to bring home the 3 points.

Bray got off to the perfect start with Sam Speidel shocking the Pembroke defence with her speed to find the backboard after running half the pitch!! Some lovely 1-2’s down the right-hand side of the pitch from Laura, Helen and Kathy tore open the Pembroke defence. The Bray defence of Laura, Captain Clare, Sinead and Caoimhe/Hardy stayed strong and took all that Pembroke had to throw at them. With Emma in goals making a couple of incredible saves! Brilliant runs from Sam, Ali, Clare H and Kathy up front allowed for many opportunities and Bray were unlucky not to score a 2nd. The Midfields: Sarah, Niamh, Helen, Jane, Juliette and Emily worked tirelessly creating plenty of space.

Bray went into half time 1-0 up after a phenomenal first half. But unfortunately, the second half didn’t go Bray’s way and a much-improved Pembroke side took advantage of any Bray errors. Pembroke made a great break through the centre and a pass through to the post ended up in the goal. Pembroke were in for a second when they converted a well worked short corner. In the last few minutes Bray put relentlessly pressure on the opposition and were very unfortunate not to score with brilliant attempts from Juliette, Ali, Kathy, Sam and Clare H. The game ended with a short corner to Pembroke and credit to the defence who weren’t going to let another one in.

The full-time whistle ended the game on a score of 2-1. Big thanks to our amazing coach Doug for all his hard work and to Hannah for umpiring!

Bray will hold their heads high ahead of next weekend’s trip to Santry to face Trinity.
