Results (15 & 16/12) & Fixtures 22/12

December 21, 2018

Storm Deirdre took hold last Saturday as the Senior squads vied to close out the first half of their outdoor season with all the home fixtures being cancelled.

The Ladies 1sts however braved the wet and windy conditions in a solid victory over Pembroke in Serpentine Avenue. The final result was 4-0 with both Ruth McDonagh and Megan Shelley scoring twice. The Ladies 1sts now sit in 5th place in Division 3 with 15 points, just 3 points of 1st position.

The Ladies 3rds also played Pembroke, unfortunately losing 1-2 with Tola Adebisi on the mark. The currently sit in 6th place in Division 8.

The Ladies 5ths were the only other side in action on Saturday, travelling to Skerries for a 10.30am pushback. A worthy journey with an important 3 points coming home after a 5-2 win. Rebecca Wall with a brace and Juliet Hill with a hat-trick. The 5ths are currently sitting undefeated at the top of Division 12, with 5 wins and one draw.

Whilst the weather got in the way for the Ladies 2nds and 4ths, both sides are still competing strongly in their divisions. The 2nds are in 9th in Division 4 and the 4ths are in 3rd in Division 10.

On the indoor front, the Ladies squad recorded two losses last Sunday, 0-3 to North Kildare and 3-5 to Three Rock. Ruth McDonagh with two goals and Yani Cully-Lane with the third. They are back in action on January 6th against Glenanne before the crossovers on January 13th.

Storm Deirdre won the Mens fixtures on Saturday with all home fixtures cancelled due to dangerous conditions. However, Sunday was a clearer day as the Mens 1sts travelled to Monkstown for their Division 2 meet. Unfortunately, it was a tough day at the office and they recorded a 0-8 loss to the hosts. This result leaves the Mens 1sts in 7th place in Division 2 going into the Christmas break.

The Mens 2nds are in 6th in Division 5 and the newly formed 3rds are in 7th place in Division 7.

The Mens Indoor squad are in action this Saturday in Columbas College as they finish up their indoor league fixtures with a 12.10pm pushback against Three Rock and 2.10pm against Pembroke.

Veyy best of luck to the indoor lads and wishing all of our members, players, coaches, volunteers, umpires and committee a wonderful Christmas and a happy and healthy 2019.
