Results (4 & 5/10) & Fixtures (10 - 12/10)

October 11, 2019

It's later than usual but sure life gets in the way sometimes and we can only but do our best! How'n'ever here's a quick round up of the results from last week:

The Ladies Vets continued their winning ways with a 1-0 win away to Railway Union last Friday. Michelle Lambert on the mark. On Saturday the Ladies 5ths travelled to Santry to play the Trinity students, unfortunately losing narrowly 0-1. The Ladies 4ths also recorded a loss, with 3 points and 3 goals going to Genesis, final score 0-3, but not a side to be left deflated, they had cake and celebrated team-mate Sophie's birthday! The Ladies 3rds flipped the 4ths result and scored 3 against their Genesis counterparts, goals from Mia Halili, Kim Leonard and Ailbhe Lunn. Following an emotinal week for the 2nds, they went out to Newpark to play Avoca without Coach Dougie and "doug deep" (couldn't help myself) to bring him home 3 points with a 2-1 victory against the hosts. Michelle Lambert and Cheryl O'Toole with the spoils. Finally, the 1sts travelled to Sandymount to play Pembroke 2nds. A tighter game than the result might say, the 1sts lost out 1-3 in the end with Ruth McDonagh scoring the only goal for the Bray side.

On the Men's front, the 1sts had a free weekend due to a bye in the Irish Senior Cup. The 2nds beat Three Rock 3-0 with a goal each from Adam Brennan, Jack Lacey Curtis & Steven Stewart. The 3rds took one more against their opposition winning 4-0 against Naas 2nds. Adam Brennan on the scoresheet with a hat-trick this time and Jack Lacey Curtis also scoring once more.

Last night, the Ladies 2nds played an exhibition match against the Loreto Bray Senior Girls squad, in what is now an annual fixture in the club calendar. Great hockey on display with a large number of our club players appearing for the school-side for the occasion. Thanks to Leah Spillane for organising and to both sides for getting involved in the 'Odd Socks for World Mental Health Day' initiative to raise awareness and reduce stigma around depression and other mental health problems. You can read about that here.
