The Ladies Vets continued their unbeaten run under the lights of Wesley College last Friday with a comprehensive 5-1 victory over YMCA. A brace from Cathy Brock, and one each for Michelle Lambert, Adrienne Ferguson and Naomi Fry keep the Ladies in contention for the league title for the second year in a row.
On Saturday the Mens 1s lost 0-3 to Rathgar and the Mens 3s won 3-2 against our Garden County neighbours, Wicklow. Goals from Graham Codd x2 and Jake Severs.
On the Ladies side both the 1sts and 2nds had another weekend off whilst the 3rds travelled to Skerries, coming home with 3 points following a 2-1 win. Loreto Bray girl Joanne O'Sullivan opened the scoring with an outrageous deflection past the mask of the keeper whilst Gerard's schoolgirl Lidia Vincente sealed the deal for the Bray side.
The Ladies 4ths played a friendly against Division 9 side Wicklow, two divisions higher than them in the Leinster Leagues. Whilst they lost 0-6 some top hockey was played and an opportunity to reduce the break from hockey was also welcomed. The 5ths had a late fixture away to Muckross in Division 12 and losing 0-4.
This coming weekend the Ladies 3rds have a break whilst all other Senior squads are playing. The Ladies 1sts welcome Lisnagarvey to Loreto for the 2nd round of the Irish Hockey Trophy and also in cup action are the Ladies 5ths who host Enniscorthy 2nds in the Division 11/12 Cup.
Best of luck to all the squads. Don't forget to get out and support and join us in The Martello later that evening for the annual Table Quiz. More info here.
